Arthur's Place - Landscape Series
Kiln formed glass
35 H x 28.5 W x 1 D cm
The development of my kiln formed glass over the last fifteen years has been towards increasingly complex and painterly Australian landscape motifs. Abstract and surreal, they have gradually evolved to more easily recognisable views of this ancient and beautiful land. This latest series, not yet exhibited, explores different views of the classic Australian juxtaposition of dry bush and water: low, scrubby trees on rocky hillsides, cross sectional rock strata, tumbling down dry gullies to a still river foreground, surreal sun dominant in the pale sky. This piece was made on hearing the news of the recent death of Arthur Boyd.
