My Mother’s Cataract
Laminated, etched, coldworked glass, commercial lens
10 H x 10 W x Various D cm
Distortion, obscurity, reflection, deflection and spatial ambiguities are some of the inherent characteristics of glass, and these parallel aspects of my mother’s visual impairment.
Using images from her corrective surgery as well as other ophthalmic devices, my work explores the notion of visual perception and the loss of it.
