1996 Finalist

Matthew CurtisQueanbeyan, New South Wales, Australia

Cone

Blown glass, metal base
70 H x 24 W x 24 D cm

This piece is a construction, simple in form and colour and yet complex. The image sand blasted on the side is a teasing indication of man's place in the constructed world. If you are feeling ambivalent, uncertain as to whether the figure is triumphant or trapped, then we feel the same way.
